I’ve been acting stupid for many years with my money

I just spent money frivolously in the past. I only regret it just a little bit, because I could have saved a little for emergencies. I say I don’t regret it mostly because you only have one life, and what if you don’t get to use up all your money before you die? At least I enjoyed myself for a while, but I’m getting older so I must save for emergencies. I don’t have kids or adult dependents, so I don’t have to worry about another person financially. I’m disabled so I really don’t have to worry about retirement, but going forward, I will because things are looking a bit crazy – this 2026 US economy and this insane world of crazies.

I just need to be more responsible with my money. I need to stop chasing convenience and instant gratification, because that’s how you lose money real quick. So to all my Gen Z or Zoomers, please take notes from my past mistakes.

I currently don’t have a car so it’s hard getting out. I do plan on getting a brand new car within the next five years. I’ll save up for it to get me a hefty down payment. I have to resist my hunger urges. I think I have parasites though, because my urges are intense, but to survive in this world, I need to be more disciplined and just cook most of my meals and learn how to piece things together. I really don’t have to learn, I just need to do it until it becomes a habit for me.

Recently, I started going to Family Dollar more to shop for snacks which are way cheaper than buying them at Kroger or Meijer where I usually get my food. I won’t buy everything at Family Dollar, but I notice that snack foods are way cheaper at the dollar stores than anyplace else, especially if you get off brands. Some of the chip off brands at Family Dollar are quite amazing, in my opinion. Seriously, I could have saved hundreds last year and years prior just by getting my chips and sweets at Family Dollar and at Dollar Tree.

I’m also playing games to earn a little money. Most of my gaming proceeds will be invested into stocks and crypto with high market caps for the long run. And I’ll put some money away in my bank account from my disability check. If my blog takes off, I might be able to get off of disability and let the proceeds from my blog take care of me, if I make enough. On disability, I only make $8.58 an hour. When you do the math with my disability check for a 40-hour work week every week for a month, then $8.58 an hour is what I get. I actually live in poverty, but it helps that I split rent with my mother, and I have no kids, so it’s not that bad.

Hey Gen Z, just change your ways and be more disciplined. Try to find all the freebies, coupons, and discounts that you can. Also, please don’t make convenience shopping your thing, unless you’re a trust fund baby and have an unlimited amount of money flowing in day and night or something. In this 2026 economy, I know saving money is hard, but please do it because emergencies happen and you don’t want to be in a situation where you have to live out on the street.
